Current players are not daily players or sales
Concurrency describes simultaneous activity at one point. It is not the number of unique people who played that day, the number of copies sold or the game ownership total. It also excludes activity in other apps and does not provide a combined count for PS5, Xbox or the Windows Xbox version.
Game Pass access makes a Steam-only number particularly unsuitable as a total audience measure. The game is listed as single-player; concurrency is not a multiplayer matchmaking queue or a measure of how quickly an opponent can be found.
Steam charts, peaks and wishlists

The Steam review endpoint measures submitted recommendations rather than concurrent players. Language and purchase filters affect review totals, which is why the review roundup records them explicitly. A small or large review sample does not supply a conversion formula for sales.
Reading a future update accurately
For a fair comparison, keep the same app, source and metric, and record the new timestamp. Different time zones and hours can produce different concurrency observations without proving a change in the underlying audience.
