Valor Mortis demo availability and trial options
The developer announced that the Steam demo would go offline on 8 September 2026. On 14 October its appdetails endpoint returned no public app data. The verified alternative on PS5 is a 1.5-hour PS Plus Premium full-game trial.
Is the Steam demo still available?
The 7 June demo launch is a historical announcement, not proof of current access. In The Final Stretch, published 4 September, One More Level scheduled the demo to go offline on 8 September because it no longer represented the polish and balance of the retail game.
The official Steam API for demo app 4641840 returned success: false on 14 October 2026. That result alone does not describe what an existing user's library can launch, but it does not provide a verified public download offer. No later official reopening announcement was found in the checked Steam news feed.
Use the current full-game store page for active offers. An old demo video, removed installer or pre-alpha playtest key is not an official download route today.
What the old demo contained
The developer described two modified levels in the June launch post: an introductory battlefield and a later area involving traversal, the Rapier, Musket and Shield Transmutation. The September update clarifies that these were bespoke demo versions labeled Chapter I and Chapter VII.
General Lothaire appeared after a short opening in the demo; the same update places him at the end of Chapter II in the full game, allowing more time to learn and level up. Demo difficulty impressions therefore need their build context. They should not be presented as a complete retail walkthrough or as measurements of current PC performance.
Can demo saves carry over?
No save-import promise or confirmed transfer procedure was found in the checked official demo and launch announcements. The bespoke levels are a documented difference; they do not independently prove whether every save field can or cannot transfer. Treat carry-over as unconfirmed and do not buy expecting retained demo progress.
Keep a backup before changing old save files. The official launch post links developer support; use that route for a build-specific answer instead of applying a community file rename as though it were supported.
PS5 trial and other ways to try the game
The US PlayStation Store lists a 1.5-hour full-game trial with PS Plus Premium. This is a timed retail-game trial tied to membership, not a free PS5 version of the Steam demo. Check the trial entitlement on the signed-in store for your region.
Xbox Wire confirms full-game subscription access through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. It is not an Xbox demo with a fixed public trial duration. See membership and cloud details or buy and install the released game.
EULA and demo version numbers
A no-cost demo can still have software-license terms. The API does not expose the retired demo's agreement here, so no specific demo EULA clause is attributed to it. The current PlayStation listing links a game privacy policy and EULA; read the agreement shown by the platform before accepting it.
The official Steam news feed labels hotfixes 1.01, 1.02 and 1.03 as June demo patches. They do not establish a retail patch version. Official announcement feed, checked 14 October 2026.
